Instructions for Use

Read these instructions carefully before using your new PrestigePro™ stethoscope. Be sure to keep them in a safe place for future reference.

Description

Your new PrestigePro™ stethoscope consists of: Chestpiece, Tubing, Eartube and Eartip (as shown in fig. 1) which is used for auscultation or listening to various sounds produced by the body.

PrestigePro™ stethoscopes have either a single-sided or dual-sided sound detecting head. Dual-sided stethoscopes allow listeners to reverse sides depending on whether they need to hear high or low frequencies, simply realized by rotating the chestpiece 180°.

The stethoscope must be placed on the desired area of the body using only reasonable pressure.

Assembly and Use

1. Gently position a binaural into each ear. For maximum acoustic seal and comfortable fit, the stethoscope is equipped with comfort sealing eartips. The comfort sealing tip is universal in size and designed to conform to the ear canal so as to block out ambient noise. The eartips are screwed onto the eartubes for a secure connection.
2. To adjust the angle of the eartubes, hold the tubing in one hand and rotate each eartube to the correct angle as shown in fig. 2.
3. To reduce spring tension, grasp each eartube at its bend and gently pull outwards as shown in fig. 3.
4. To increase spring tension, squeeze the eartubes together as shown in fig. 4.
5. When the eartips are in your ears, the eartubes should be pointed forward as shown in fig. 5. Improperly wearing the stethoscope headset can result in poor acoustical seal and, in some cases, complete sound blockage.
6. Move the chestpiece gently around to obtain maximum amplification and clarity. Only one side of the dual-sided stethoscope works at one time. You need to open, or close the bell or membrane by rotating the chestpiece. If the membrane is open, the bell will be closed, preventing sound from coming in through the bell, and vice versa.

 Make sure that the eartubes are pointed slightly forward into the ear canal.

Cleaning

In order to avoid dirt accumulation and dust, always store the stethoscope in its packaging. The outside of the instrument can be cleaned with a damp, soft and fluff-free fabric. Do not use thermal sterilization or soaking.

Warning

Never bring the stethoscope into contact with liquid and make sure that no liquid penetrates the housing! Since the stethoscope is not designed for operations, simple cleaning and/or disinfection with a surface disinfectant with an alcoholic base is sufficient.

 Do not use any scrubbing cleansing agents.

Storage and Transport

Keep stethoscope away from heat or cold. Components of the stethoscope are vulnerable to being damaged by pointed and sharp objects. It is recommended that the instruments be reprepared immediately after their use.
